Saree (Sari), Saree Trends, Sari Types

Sari fabrics/material you should pick for a Summer Wedding..

Summer weddings is a time when every bride would love to look their best in the most striking outfits that give summer its due, as well as not compromise on comfort. Of course, the Indian tropical summer can be far from comforting, making it even more important for the bride to choose a saree that compliments the season and the joyous occasion.

The sari has often been given a lot of importance in every Indian wedding. A bridal saree is an epitome that enhances the Indian bride’s elegance and beauty. The good news is, that there are now several types of saree fabrics that brides can choose from to wear for their summer weddings. India women almost a decade ago had very limited sari fabric choices that they could choose to wear for their summer weddings. Some limited wedding saris were Kanjeevaram sarees, saris with heavy silk brocade and zari work, silk saris that were full of embroidery and zardosi, beads etc, the patola saree, the Gujarati brocate saree on silk fabric, the unforgetable benarasi silk saris and lots more.

However, these are not practical fabrics that women would love to wear for any summer weddings. Summers are a great time, when brides and even those attending a summer wedding dressed in the traditional attire choose saree fabrics that are light and airy. Some of the most preferred sari fabrics that women prefer especially for a summer wedding are georgettes, chiffons, and even cotton blended with silk or other fabrics.

These sarees are available in colors and patterns that are bright, beautiful, light, and very comfortable to wear and carry. Although sari fabrics like chiffons and georgettes are very casual, the wedding wear is generally embelished with a lot of beadwork, embroidery work and an array of gorgeous colors.

Another fabric that looks grand and the best choice for weddings is tissue. Tissue saris are not only airy and comfortable, but look very delicate and when added with a bit of embroidery looks splendid and very rich.

If you are interested in traditional sarees rather than the new fabrics that designers prefer then you can also choose traditional Indian Sarees like the Chanderi and Maheshwari sarees. These saris are light and the best option for summer wedding attire as they are made in silk and fine cotton. With stunning patterns from the Chanderi temples, these are sure to astound you.  The newest Maheshwari fabric addition is tussar silk with traditional desings embroidered on it.

With so much to choose from in sari fabrics, you are sure to enjoy your summer wedding, with harldy any weather concerns.
